Feed-in tariff installations double in August
Figures for August show a sharp increase in uptake with nearly 4,000 Feed-In Tariff eligible installations going live, totalling 11.28MW of capacity. This was double the figures for July where 1,839 installations went live, totalling 5.5MW of capacity.
The vast majority of the installations were in the residential market which accounted for 10.69MW of capacity.
Analysis of the August figures revealed the following:
• 3,905 residential installations
• Surge in hydro uptake with 38 installations, 33 for residential properties
• First Micro-CHP systems go live with 2 installations in August
• Community projects also picking up with 25 going live
• Commercial installations growing at a slower rate than residential with just 31 installations totalling 0.4MW compared to 22 installations totalling 0.23MW the previous month
Commenting on the figures, Scott McLean, Marketing Director of Ownergy, said: "These figures clearly show that interest in the Feed-In Tariffs is going from strength to strength. It is also good to see that the increases are across the board although, quite clearly, the residential market is producing the lion’s share of installations right now.
This is not a surprise given the relative ease of the installations and the speed of decision-making that a householder is able to make. Given the current surge of interest we are receiving from the commercial sector, we expect generation capacity to continue to rise across all sectors as the months pass by."
