Frome Show gearing up for flood of entries

Frome Show organisers are gearing themselves up for a last minute flood of entries for the 129th show due to take place on September 9th.

Closing dates for the various sections vary but with the first falling on August 18th and most of the others a week later, time is getting short, says show secretary, Brenda Scott.

“We’ve already logged a huge number of entries but going by what’s happened in previous years, there are plenty more still to come,” she said, adding, “especially as there’s a number of new classes this year.

“The show’s strong agricultural and rural heritage is reflected in new show jumping classes and a new pygmy goat competition, for example, while the sheep section has been extended to include long and short wool and Jacob’s classes.

“And at the same time the horticultural and handicraft classes, which always attract a huge number of entries from the wider public, have also been boosted.

“Schedules for all sections are still available from the office at Fromefield, from Frome Tourist Information Office and Asda but anyone who wants details of the agricultural or equestrian classes can also pick these up from specialist stores and suppliers.”

She added: “My only plea is that anyone who wants to put in an entry should check the closing date so they don’t miss out on the possibility of winning a prize.”
