Future presents challenges to agriculture
The National Farm Council started Farm City Week in 1955. It is celebrated on the seven days leading up to and including Thanksgiving, Nov. 17th through Nov. 23rd. During this time, we honor farmers, ranchers and those working to build relationships to help our rural and urban communities that we live in.
With the contributions of our farmers and ranchers, our economy can thrive. An example of this is that by growing crops like soybeans and corn we can reduce the need for foreign oil. These items can be used as an alternative source of energy for Americans. The relationships between those involved in making sure that Americans have a healthy supply of food, fiber and natural resources benefit all Americans greatly.
Not only are farmers and ranchers considered part of the network that provides food, goods and services to our communities but also researchers, truckers, advertisers, wholesalers and retailers. These people work hard to provide us with a variety of food and other products used to make clothing, housing, medicines and many other items that we use in our daily lives.
