GMA allocates $1.17 billion to boost rice production



The government will spend more than $1 billion to boost rice production, the president said Friday, as the price of the country's staple food rose amid a tightening global supply.

"There are global clouds on the horizon that are driving up the price of oil and food, particularly rice," President Arroyo said at a national food summit in northern Pampanga province.
