Germany-New tractor from John Deere.

GERMANY-NEW TRACTOR LAUNCHED.

European-built 5R and 5RN Series tractors have been announced by John Deere, replacing its popular 5020 range.

Built in Mannheim, Germany, they are rated at 60kW, 67kW and 74kw (80hp 90hp and 100hp) respectively. Key attractions will be their higher horsepower and payloads, better ergonomics and improved operator comfort. Utilising Deere’s full-frame chassis design, all this translates into 20pc higher payload capacities, meaning the tractors can handle heavier implements. As a result, the maximum permissible weight for carrying heavy implements has increased to 6600kg. All three tractors are powered by a 4.5L PowerTechE engines, complying with the latest Tier IIIA emission requirements. Two transmission options are available. Both the basic 16/16 PowrQuad Plus and AutoQuad Plus transmissions feature four ranges with four power-shifting gears operating between 3.3kph and 40kph. As well, they are available with a 16/16 underdrive option that allows speeds as low as 1.5kph. Meanwhile, for easier handling and optimum versatility, especially during front loader work, both transmissions feature an electric power reverser. Deere’s new tiltable TechCenter cabs feature 310-degree vision while air conditioning and a deluxe seat form part of the basic specification with noise levels reduced to 74dBA under full load. These tractors can be equipped with three different John Deere front loader models, thereby appealing to a wide range of materials handling applications. The company says its 5RN narrow versions have a maximum overall width of 1.86m, making them suitable for orchards and vineyards with row widths greater than 2.50 m.
