Govt starts importing farming inputs

The Government has begun importing farming inputs ahead of this year's summer cropping season to ensure food security, the Governor of Matabeleland North province, Cde Sithokozile Mathuthu, said yesterday.

Speaking in an interview at Ntabazinduna Police Training Depot soon after the graduation of 257 recruits, Cde Mathuthu said years of consecutive droughts have greatly depleted the country's stock of crop seed hence the need to import.

"As the Government we have to prepare for the summer cropping season to avoid hunger in the country.
