Govt to promote organic farming

It will be back to basics for the farmers in the State. With increasing pollution due to use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, the State Government is all set to promote organic farming in a massive way.

A draft policy on organic farming has been prepared by officials for submission to the government in a few days.

In the wake of the increasing demand for organic food on domestic and international markets, the government is aiming at production of quality and chemical-free foods like fruits, vegetables, spices and grains, cash crops, and medicinal and aromatic plants by organic farming methods.
