Hereford Calf Show debuts at Newark

Organisers of the Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show and the Midlands & East Anglia Hereford Breeders Association are delighted to announce that the Association’s first regional Hereford Calf Show will be held on Sunday 13 November 2011.

Incorporated within the Vintage Tractor Show (12 & 13 November) is a Native & Rare Breeds Exhibition which has proved extremely popular with the many visitors; the Exhibition provides a perfect backdrop for the Midlands & East Anglia Hereford Breeders Association Calf Show which already has over 50 entries.

The Association sees this event as a great opportunity to encourage Young Hereford Members, the breeders of the future. Its schedule includes Young Handlers (14 years and Under, and 15 ’ 26 years) as well as breed classes for Commercials, Pairs, Bulls and Heifers with a Championship in both sections. Young Members are being encouraged to take part in these classes by being offered cash incentives.

This year’s Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show has almost 1,000 entries across tractors, commercials, military vehicles, Land Rovers, static and steam engines, displays and associations. Feature tractors in 2011 are the John Deere and Lanz which will be housed in a massive 3,600 square metre marquee.

Saturday (12th) plays host to the annual Vintage Auction organised by Brown & Co while Old Sodbury’s Sort-Out makes a welcome return on the Sunday. Also on Sunday will be the Remembrance Day Service held in the George Stephenson Exhibition Hall amidst the many Nominated Tractor entries.
