Hi-Spec launch new Bale Strip at LAMMA
Hi-Spec Engineering will be displaying for the first time the new Hi-Spec Bale Strip bale handler at this year’s LAMMA show.
The new Bale Strip enables one person to quickly and efficiently remove film and netwrap from round silage bales, but then also break-up the bale in order to reduce mixing time when using a complete diet feeder, or for ease of feeding into feed rings or along feed passages.
The new Hi-Spec Bale Strip comprises of two bale spikes, plus a unique claw arm that is mounted on the top of the handler, and this is then used in combination with a knife that is mounted on the feed wagon, or a ground mounted version is also available where silage bales are simply fed into feed rings or against barriers.
In operation, the operator simply lifts the wrapped bale, keeping the spikes near the bottom of the bale. To strip and break up the bale, the bale is initially lowered onto and passed over the static knife in order to perforate the film and netwrap.
Using the claw arm to securely grab the film and netwrap, the two bale spikes are then hydraulically swung outwards, which acts to both tear apart the film and netwrap along the perforation, but by continuing to move the spikes outwards this then goes on to rip apart the bale and allow the silage to fall into the feeder whilst retaining the film and netwrap.
As an option, a set of rollers to go over the bale spikes are also available, so that the Bale Strip can be used as a conventional bale handler and stacker.
The new Hi-Spec Bale Strip is suitable for use with all makes of both telescopic handler and tractor mounted loaders.
