IDF Dairy Innovation Awards finalists and winners announced
At a celebratory gala dinner at the Knight’s Hall, Residenz Palace, Salzburg, Austria on 28 April, attended by over 150 industry representatives, the finalists and winners in the 2010 IDF Dairy Innovation Awards were announced.
The inaugural awards programme attracted over 170 entries from 29 countries in 12 categories, designed to reward and champion innovation and excellence in the global dairy industry. The Associate Sponsors were Tate & Lyle and Sidel. An international panel of experts met in Brussels on 30 March to select the finalists and choose the winners.
The IDF Dairy Innovation Awards is a partnership initiative by the International Dairy Federation and FoodBev Media’s Dairy Innovation magazine. At the awards dinner, IDF President Richard Doyle welcomed guests and the awards were presented by Dairy Innovation magazine Editor Geoff Platt and hosted by FoodBev Media Group Editorial Director Bill Bruce.
"The 2010 IDF Dairy Innovation Awards received an exceptional record number of participants, highlighting the richness and diversity of dairy and its development," said IDF Director General Christian Robert. "The IDF Dairy Innovation Awards is crucial to better leverage the importance of talented innovation to deliver natural, safe, tasty and healthy food. Around the globe there are numerous examples of excellence – success stories, new trends, best practices, reactive initiatives, inspiring ideas – to consolidate the position and foster the expansion of our sector".
"Innovation in dairy is growing as fast, if not faster than any other sector of the food and drink industry," added Dairy Innovation Editor Geoff Platt. "These awards have created a unique platform for us to celebrate excellence and innovation across the global dairy industry. And they will be an incentive and an inspiration for others in the industry to follow suit".
"We are delighted to have achieved a record number of entries from every corner of the world for the 2010 IDF Dairy Innovation Awards – and their truly international appeal is reflected with winners from eleven different countries," concluded FoodBev Media Group Editorial Director Bill Bruce. Every entry features in a special Showcase magazine which was seen for the first time at the 4th Global Dairy Congress and which will go to all readers of Dairy Innovation magazine. A digital version will be available online at www.foodbev.com and trends and themes from the awards will be presented at the 2010 IDF World Dairy Summit in Auckland, in November 2010".
