Insects immune in GM crops

Organic farmers are concerned more insects may develop a resistance to genetically-modified crops.

Scientists have confirmed insects in test fields of GM cotton and corn have mutated and become immune to a toxin the modified plants produce.

The experiments were done in Australia, China, Spain and the US.

Green Party MP Nandor Tanczos says it is exactly what opponents of GM crops predicted and could put the organic farming industry at risk. He says a development like this has always been the concern of people opposed to genetic modification.
