Lantra appoints a new Director in Scotland

Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the Environmental and Land-based Sector has appointed William Fergusson as its National Director in Scotland.

William joins Lantra from his role as Chief Executive of the Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group at Bellshill. He previously worked in the Agri-Food industry as director for Dalgety Agriculture for Scotland and Yorkshire. He has also worked as a Business Consultant and has considerable commercial and business experience as well as an excellent knowledge of the land-based sector.

William has experience in training and education through running company training programmes and in the past as an industrial advisor to the Rural Business management degree courses at SAC Aberdeen and on the committee validating the SAC degree courses on behalf of Aberdeen University.

Based in Perth, William will be working closely with the Scottish Executive, key partners, government agencies and land-based organisations to ensure learning and skills development within the land-based sector are regarded as high priority.

Lantra's Chief Executive, Peter Martin said: "William has a good knowledge of the parts of our sector which are important in Scotland; he also brings with him a wealth of senior management experience as well as an impressive track-record of working with governments, agencies, employers and partners.
