MP calls for end to sheep tagging

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has called for the end of the mandatory tagging of all sheep to save local farmers thousands of pounds.

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Mr Farron says the mandatory tagging of all sheep is costly, ineffective and not needed.

A report from the Country Land and Business Association said the European Union needs to re-think its policy on electronic tagging.
