Milk Link announces increase in ‘B’ milk price

The Milk Link Governing Board has announced an increase in the ‘B’ price paid to its farmer Members for the first five months of the 2007 calendar year (January to May). It estimates that the increase will be worth at least 0.15ppl to the average Milk Link Member. The Board has also confirmed the removal of the need for Members to cover their production with quota for the rest of the current milk year.

Commenting on the increase the Board stated “we believe that the recent strengthening in commodity markets will enable us to obtain greater returns for incremental milk produced in the first five months of next year. By announcing now an increase in the B price and by removing quota restrictions we hope it will give Members the confidence to plan increased production and as a consequence obtain the maximum benefit.”
