New Wool Board member for English South Western region



Following the retirement of David Darke, the result of the recent Board Member Election in the English South Western Region, is that Brian Dallyn, who farms at Parracombe, Barnstaple, Devon, has been elected to the Wool Board for a three year term beginning on 1 April.

The votes cast for the six candidates were as follows:-

Elected: Brian C Dallyn 9,927
Not elected: Alan Derryman 5,606

Alan C G Marshall 5,319

Peter Baber 2,212

John H Wescott 2,067

Richard F Hill 1,391


Brian Dallyn has farmed on Exmoor all his life. He previously ran a flock of Exmoor Mules and Exmoor Horns but has now reduced his commercial sheep business and keeps a flock of pedigree Blue-faced Leicesters and a small number of Exmoor Horn ewes. He is a past Chairman of the NFU's Exmoor Hill Farming Committee and has also been regional Chairman of the NSA.
