New appointment for BASF Crop Protection
Recognising the strategic importance of the oilseed rape crop, BASF Crop Protection has appointed Will Reyer as Marketing and Value Chain Manager for Field crops, Northern Europe.
A graduate from Harper Adams University specialising in crop protection, Will Reyer has forged his whole career with BASF, gaining considerable experience in development, technical and marketing roles in Europe and in the UK.
"I am delighted to be appointed to this role at a time when producing both food and fuel remains top of the agricultural agenda. I will be looking after the BASF range of products for oilseed rape, sugar beet, legumes and maize in the UK as well as in the Nordic and Baltic countries. BASF has the leading share in oilseed rape and the pipeline is also looking very productive, with some good development options for the future, says Will.
"In the UK we are particularly well adapted to growing oilseed rape, agronomically and right down the value chain to the end user. For BASF it is a high profile crop and it will remain a very important crop for us and for UK agriculture in the future," says William.
William Reyer graduated from Harper Adams University, joining BASF straight from college, starting in product development in East Anglia. He progressed to a Technical Services role in Head Office in Cheadle and was then promoted to a Technical Marketing position in BASF European Headquarters in Germany focusing on oilseed rape and sunflowers.
He then switched to a cereals role, becoming European Marketing Manager for the key active ingredient, pendimethalin. Further promotion brought Will back to the UK where he took over the cereal herbicide portfolio in the marketing team. This new appointment brings him back to oilseed rape as well as other field crops for the UK, Nordic and Baltic countries.
