New members join NFU horticulture board

Boston-based brassica grower Sarah Dawson has been re-elected as chairman of the NFU’s horticulture and potatoes board.

Herefordshire soft fruit grower Anthony Snell was re-elected as vice-chairman and the board also welcomed five new members to represent the horticulture sector.

They are Ledbury-based top fruit and hop producer Alison Capper, root vegetable grower Guy Poskitt from Yorkshire and Norfolk-based tomato producer Paul Simmonds. Co-opted to the board were Mark Leggott, a peas, potato and field vegetable producer from Lincolnshire and ornamental specialist Ian Riggs, who is also chairman of the British Protected Ornamentals Association.

Sarah Dawson said "It is a huge honour to be unanimously re-elected for a second term by a group of well-respected industry peers. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to continue representing the NFU’s grower members and promoting our British world-class horticulture and potatoes industry for a further two years.

"I very much look forward to maintaining the energy, enthusiasm and passion I try so very hard to bring to this role. I’d also like to welcome the new members to the board and look forward to delivering against our vision for a thriving, productive and profitable British horticulture and potatoes sector; now and in the future."
