Prince William to boost sausage exports to China?

Prince William is being urged to help pave the way for further processed pork exports to China - and success could bring £15m boost for British farmers, it has been reported.

When the Prince opens the Great Festival of Creativity in Shanghai in March, he may take the opportunity to champion British pig meat.

The sausage used by the Chinese middle-classes in their increasingly popular fry-ups is usually an American-style hotdog.

British sausage-makers are hoping progress in developing the export market will leave them well-place to capitalise, the Mail says.

The Princes spokesman was quoted as saying it was ‘too early’ to discuss the visit.

Zoe Davies, Chief Executive of the National Pig Association said: "Our trading relationship with China has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, so anything that the Prince can do to encourage an increase in the sale of quality, traceable British pork to the Chinese people is most welcome."
