Read-it day approaches for CCL scheme growers
Growers are being advised to mark the September 30 in their diary as ‘Read it’ Day by NFU’s Energy Advisory Team.
This marks the end of the first Horticultural Climate Change Levy (CCL) reporting year when energy returns need to be collated for DEFRA to enable growers on the scheme to continue to maintain their 80% discount.
Chris Plackett, Scheme Manager, said: “On this day, growers must take electricity and gas meter readings and assess stocks of bulk fuels like oil, coal and LPG. Utility bills or delivery notes provide useful evidence of purchased energy, but in themselves they are not sufficiently accurate for the Scheme – actual readings and stock checks must be carried out”.
Forms are now being sent out by the NFU Energy Team to collect the information and they should be completed by the end of October so that the discount can continue.
If growers have any queries about meter reading or assessing energy use they should contact the NFU Energy Team on 024 7669 6512.
