Regions should share best practice - Sir Don Curry
Sir Don Curry, author of the Curry Report, is backing a major new feature at this year's Royal Show, which will bring to life the Government's Strategy for Sustainable Farming and Food.
The feature will showcase best practice case studies from around the country and show ways in which farm businesses have responded to changing circumstances and new opportunities. It will also provide a unique opportunity for key agencies to come together to demonstrate a joined up approach to business support and facilitation.
The initiative responds to key points raised by industry delegates at the "Curry Commission - Two Years On" forum where the need for improved communication of objectives of the Sustainable Farming and Food Strategy and the sharing of best practice were identified as key for its successful delivery.
Referring to the initiative Sir Don Curry commented: "The changes that take place next year as a result of CAP reform will have a serious impact on farming businesses. Much is being done to help and support the industry through these challenging times ahead and I am delighted to support the Royal Agricultural Society of England in this new and exciting feature. Some excellent and innovative work is being done throughout the regions and the Royal Show feature provides a unique opportunity for this to be shared with others."
"Practical examples of best practice will be featured and those responsible for delivery will be on hand throughout the show to provide further advice and direct interested visitors to additional sources of information and assistance. Seminars on key elements of the strategy will also be held throughout the duration of the Show."
