Rural enterprise open for more business
A revamp of old buildings in a historic Northamptonshire village is set to create new opportunities for local businesses.
Six business units on the Castle Ashby Estate, one of which has been converted from a former school house, have been developed from traditional farm buildings to bring a range of companies to Castle Ashby village and boost the rural economy.
David Featherstone, who works for chartered surveyors King West, has launched these offices onto the letting market on behalf of the Estate. He said he expects the new development will create more work locally.
"With the decline of traditional industry too few people now live and work in the villages surrounding Northampton.
"The Estate is now looking to attract a mix of companies from growth sectors of the economy and from a variety of complementary disciplines – a formula which has worked well in other rural areas across the country."
Mike Holland, director of King West, added: "This well-known Northamptonshire Estate already generates a good level of commercial activity, and has established a good business network in the village.
"These extra six units will further help to provide sustainable income via business rents, all of which immediately benefit the local rural economy."
