Rush to buy free-range eggs
Tasmanians are rushing to snap up free-range eggs in a backlash against battery hen farming.
The intensive farming practices of the state's egg farms have come under attack in State Parliament in recent weeks, with a renewed push from the Greens to have battery farming outlawed.
A string of recent salmonella outbreaks, which made droves of Tasmanians sick and even hospitalised, also have people thinking more carefully about buying and consuming eggs.
