S.Africa says requested EU to delist meat exports
JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa said it had asked the European Union to remove the nation from a list of exporters for some meat and meat products, denying that the move to delist the products was prompted by EU safety concerns.
The EU said last week it would decide by December whether to remove certain meat products from the list of commodities that South Africa was allowed to export to the EU following safety worries.
South Africa's Agriculture Department spokeswoman Tsotso Sehoole said on Wednesday the country had asked the EU to delist lamb, pork, poultry, honey and milk from the list of exports to the European bloc.
