SALSA Success for Copas Turkeys
Luxury turkey producer Copas Traditional Turkeys are delighted to have received SALSA (Safe & Local Supplier Approval) certification for their purpose-built seasonal facilities.
As the first seasonal producer of Christmas turkeys in the UK to have achieved this status, the Copas Turkeys team are proud that their highly prized offering benefits not only from centuries-old production methods (key to their superior eating quality), but also state-of-the-art facilities that don't compromise on customer assurance for the most important meal of the year.
With a 'non-multiple' stance and an unwillingness to produce turkeys under any other name, Copas Turkeys remain committed to the independent sector. They provide turkeys that are at the top of their field with all the product consistency, assurance and traceability you'd expect from an established family business with unrivalled pedigree. "To retain their local reputation as a purveyor of premium produce, it is imperative that independent retailers source & stock the finest quality goods available. This is even more important at Christmas. Although over 50 years experience in our field counts for a lot, Christmas and Poultry are two high-risk arenas, so we are delighted to have received SALSA certification, which adds to our already excellent reputation for welfare standards, product quality and food standards".
SALSA is a joint venture between the four main trade associations representing the UK Food chain - The British Retail Consortium, The British Hospitality Association, The Food & Drink Federation and The National Farmers Union. In order to comply, independent audits took place inspecting standards of product safety, legality and quality & the provision of demonstrable due diligence.
In addition to SALSA accreditation, Copas Traditional Turkeys are founding members of the TFTA (Traditional Farmfresh Turkey Association), the only assurance scheme in the UK guaranteeing traditional farmfresh production (& home of the 'Golden Promise' accreditation) and with an independently inspected Code of Practice regarding age, diet, welfare and production. They are also proud to be approaching their third Christmas with Organic certification enabling them to supply the creme-de-la-creme with an "Copas Free Range Organic" range of products.
