Second farming couple found love through new online dating service
A new online friendship and dating service, Country Couples, designed for the rural community has already created it's second love match after launching in December 2007.
Sally explained "I am delighted, it shows that love can be waiting just around the corner in rural areas but without a way to meet, that opportunity may pass you by. In very rural areas 'the girl next door' may actually mean someone 7 miles away. The site is only seven weeks old but we have already helped two couples to find love."
There is certainly something different about country dwellers, ask any farmers daughter what Hermes is and she will get out the sheep ailments book. Ask a born and bred country lad what an entrepreneur is and he will say 'someone that comes up with a way to stop the buggers dying on you'.
Sally said "There is a certain mentality shared between country lovers and it tends not to include the words capitalism or materialistic. Some of us still enjoy the simple life, where it is normal to have a pocket full of sheep pellets and a bottle of iodine in the glove compartment."
Social networking and online dating is now used by millions across the UK for making friends and meeting partners. However www.country-couples.co.uk is shying away from the come one, come all approach of the big online dating services and is limiting its members to people with a real love of our countryside. That can be anyone that lives on a farm to someone that simply enjoys walking the dogs by the local river, what is important is that everyone is like-minded.
Sally said "It is all very well joining a site with millions of members but how many of them will want to go to the local horse show or country fair with you? Of course it is exciting to meet new and interesting people but if you are looking for a real relationship or to make new friends, it is important that you share some interests."
Country Couples is not just about finding love but also somewhere country lovers can meet for a chat, share ideas and views, find activity partners or just let off steam.
Sally says "My aim is to build a genuine site, which is safe and populated by people who share common interests. I have tried to deal with many of the usual complaints about online dating, so there are no repeat subscriptions, with gradual but honest build up of membership rather than 'invented' or 'purchased' members. All staff members, including myself, are registered with the site which allows us to deal quickly with any issues that arise."
Concluded Sally "Anyone with a love of our countryside or that works or lives in rural communities is welcome at Country Couples. Our aim is to bring country people together, whether they are just looking for friendship, activity partners or the love of their life."
