Shrewsbury auction reaches down under
Buyers from as far away as New Zealand were registered as auctioneers Halls reported their best attended plant and agricultural machinery collective auction of the year on October 1.
Heavy rain proved no obstacle as buyers flocked to Shrewsbury Auction Centre, confirming its status as the premier regional collective machinery auction.
Top selling lots were a 2002 John Deere 7810 Powerquad at £19,800, a 1999 John Deere 6610SE at £10,200, a Slurry Kat umbilical chord system with a slurry bar at £8,500 and a New Holland LM415A telehandler at £8.200.
"It was a fantastic sale considering the very wet weather and we had enquiries from across the UK and overseas," said Halls’ auction manager Tom Jones. "With the European market being slightly depressed, we were delighted to attract a number of new buyers, including one from New Zealand, who bought a range of cultivation equipment.
"A big advantage that we have at Shrewsbury Auction Centre is the indoor facilities that allow people to take shelter from the rain. Due to the success of the auctions, we are now giving serious consideration to making them monthly rather than holding them every two months."
