Thompson’s tip: Mycotoxin warning
After the appallingly wet weather of our latest ‘summer’, high levels of mycotoxins in this year’s wheat crops are forecast, warns Paul Thompson, veterinary consultant to pig-breeding company ACMC.
Mycotoxins are associated with a range of conditions including poor growth and performance in growing pigs and reproductive failure in sows. He therefore advises pig producers to use mycotoxin binders this year after discussion with their vets and nutritional advisers.
