FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY.

The Food Standards Agency has come under fire over the proposed extra regulations it wanted.

The FSA were demanding that cattle over the age of 30 months be held in separate pens at the abattoir and processed separately from the rest of the days kill.

The National Beef Association, criticized the FSA for trying to implement unnecessary expenses on to the industry without just cause.

NBA director Kim Haywood, said " The FSA was attacked because it had imposed

Unnecessary, impractical and expensive regulations on the industry without prior consultation and in complete contradiction to its recent promise to look for science based solutions, incurring the lowest possible cost, when faced with emerging food safety problems in the processing sector".
