United States-Chicago meat plant fire Xmas Day.

MEAT PACKING FIRE IN CHICAGO.

In the early hours of Xmas morning a large meat packing plant on the south side of Chicago in South Morgan Street was burned down despite the efforts of 165 fire officers.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear, however once the beef fat and tallow caught fire there was no way of containing the blaze.

There were also chemicals in the plant that were highly inflammable added fuel to the fire.
