United States-Live cattle sent to Russia.
UNITED STATES.
260 CALVES SENT TO RUSSIA BY AIR CARGO.
There was cause for great celebration at Chicago airport on Wednesday, as 250 Aberdeen Angus Heifer calves and 10 bull calves, from Whiteston Krebs Angus at Gordon Nebraska, were loaded on a cattle plane bound for Russia.
This was the first consignment of live cattle to Russia in a considerable time, and the prime stock are to form the nucleus of a breeding herd of beef cattle, on a 30,000 hectare farm in Russia.
This indeed was a wonderful way for the new USDA management team, to start their first day of the new administration, in a true spirit of cooperation, with countries who may hold different views the their own.
The calves were loaded in pallets built like small cattle pens that were on wheels, making the loading and unloading very rapid and causing minimum stress to the young yearlings.
