LIVE EXPORTS OF CATTLE TO CHINA
An historic trade deal between the governments of China and Uruguay, was ratified this week for the export of live cattle to the mainland of China from Montevideo.
The initial orders have been signed for fattening cattle and dairy cows and heifers. The steers will go into feed lots in China and taken to 650 kilos live weight prior to slaughter.
Whilst there have been live exports to Malaysia, this is the first time cattle have been purchased for mainland China, outside of Australia and New Zealand.
