The Uruguayan Meat Institute, claim that there will be full traceabilty for all cattle in Uruguay by 2010, not just those destined for the export market.
Silvana Bonsignor, the marketing manger of the institute said, " the new computerized tracking system, will be like the black box in aircraft and should a problem arise, we can trace the cause and the source".
Sylvana went on to say that the restaurant the institute opened in Spain recently, to increase awareness of Uruguayan beef, attracted 1,000 diners per day, using 30 tons of beef during the recent three month promotion.
