Vietnam-Backlog of containers in port.
VIETNAM.
180 CONTAINERS OF MEAT STUCK IN PORT.
There is panic in Vietnam, with 180 containers of meat are backlogged in the ports. The government of Vietnam imposed an import ban on meat product, mainly pork and poultry,
to help local farmers keep a floor on domestic prices.
There were 15 containers seized by customs officials in Taiwan recently that had been re.-consigned to Taiwan from Vietnam, as traders are in a state of panic.
Most of the meat was sold FOB port of origin, therefore the exporters did not heed the export ban, rather shipped the containers and drew their money, against the irrevocable letters of credit.
This is not a case of Force Majeure, meaning the importers have their money at risk as they have already paid for it.
