Vincent man dies in farm accident
An 85-year-old man was killed on a cattle farm near Watertown Friday afternoon after being pinned against a fence post by his tractor.
Raymond Keller of 11984 State Route 676, Vincent, had apparently used the tractor to tow a hay baler through a fence gate on his farm just before the accident occurred.
"We believe he got off the tractor to close the gate when the tractor rolled backward, and he was unable to get out of the way," said Lt. David Huffer with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
"Some family members working in another area of the farm found him and called the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department and emergency squad," he said.
Huffer said Keller may have been pinned against the post for an hour before he was discovered.
"The call came in around 4:20 p.m., and we estimate the accident must have occurred at about 3:15 p.m.," Huffer said.
