Vintage machinery to be celebrated at East of England Show
British farming traditions and agricultural machinery heritage are being celebrated at this year’s East of England Show. From vintage tractors, farm implements, steam engines, classic cars, lorries and fire engines - the amazing display of exhibits has already earned a reputation as one of the best of its kinds in the country.
An integral part of this year’s show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough, visitors have the chance to look back in time at farming and agricultural methods using early machinery - including an impressive array of pre-1930 tractors.
James Coward, one of the Vintage Display organisers, said "The vintage display at the East of England Show is a true celebration of British farming traditions and our agricultural machinery heritage, drawing on exhibits from across the country.
"Enthusiasts come from far and wide to see the magnificent gathering of vehicles and machinery. Local farmers love to reminisce with the tractors they used to drive, while families are inspired by the magnificence of the steam traction engines."
One of the most popular areas of the display is the special agricultural machinery theme, overseen by the Peterborough Farm Machinery Preservation Society, which will include a demonstration as part of the ring display, alongside a threshing and steam wood sawing display.
The East of England Show is the region’s premier family event and will include over 1,000 livestock, equine attractions, retail opportunities, interactive events and much, much more. For the first time this year, there will be an open-air concert on the Saturday night featuring X Factor finalists Marcus Collins and Janet Devlin.
