Warming to chance to put 75 sheep in every loft

WOOL from Welsh sheep will be used to insulate homes and buildings across the UK under a deal designed to promote green products and support the rural economy.

T-Mawr of Brecon, which has developed a range of traditional, environmentally-friendly building products, is behind the initiative to produce a natural wool insulation that contains at least 75% Welsh wool.

The T-Mawr Thermafleece will be launched next month and coincides with a major expansion of the business, which is being supported by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Joyce Morgan-Gervis, who runs T-Mawr with her husband Nigel Gervis, explained they had previously been unable to obtain wool specifically from Wales because nobody previously bought big enough quantities to make it economically viable to separate the Welsh wool during processing.

She said, "As the largest distributors of wool insulation in the UK, we were able to convince our suppliers that there was a strong market demand for Welsh wool.
