Over 35 farm and rural businesses from Warwickshire flocked to the first meeting of the newly formed Warwickshire Rural Hub, held at Stoneleigh Park in December 2003.
The Hub is a rural business and producer-led group. Under the Chairmanship of Henry Lucas, a farmer from Kenilworth, it was set up to help progress ideas and opportunities for farm and rural businesses by the best means possible and to use the help from the relevant agencies and funding bodies to create a sustainable future for rural Warwickshire.

With assistance from the Rural Forum for Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire and financial support through the Forum's GROWS Learning Project, the Hub now has 10 specific groups. These cover a wide range of business areas
including:- Tourism, Equine, Waste Management, Arable, Livestock, Re-usable Building, IT, Alternative Fuels and Energy Crops.
Hub Chairman Henry Lucas is delighted that the Hub is off to such a flying start. "This is really such a busy and exciting time for the Warwickshire Rural Hub. Since the Hub first came together we have been steadily building up on our portfolio of producer and business-led working groups as well as planning a number of projects and events for the New Year, which will all
now be able to come into fruition"
Henry's excitement is also shared by other members of the Hub. Rod Adlington from the company Turkey Talk, the driving force behind "The Green Grocer" Food Distribution & Processing Project, remarked: "Our Green Grocer Project really has developed thanks to the help of the Hub's Food Processing and Distribution Group, and the sheer hard work and dedication of the project members. It has brought us much closer to our aim of being able to set up a local food distribution company in Warwickshire." The 'Green Grocer' aims to be up and running by September 2004.
If you are a Warwickshire farm or rural business, the Hub would like to hear what your needs are in order to help you develop your business. Membership
is free.
