Wire fencing secures World War two gun emplacement

Security Wire Netting From McVeigh Parker Used To Secure World War Two Gun Emplacements

At Capel-le-Ferne the Security XFENCE and steel post system is being used to secure World War two gun emplacements on the white cliffs of Dover. With this year marking the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, Capel-le-Ferne took centre stage with an annual tribute that was attended by HRH Prince Michael of Kent.

The restrictions imposed by the local councils and the sensitivity and location of the site required a fence that did not impose itself on the landscape and that could resist the sea salt spray. The XFENCE Security System ticked all the boxes and won the day. This fence type enabled the contractors to erect the fence close to the cliff edge with minimal ground disturbance. The XFENCE Security high tensile wire netting, not only provided a difficult fence to penetrate but allowed the posts to be spaced up to 4 metres apart, again reducing the visual impact. The XTRALIFE Ali/Zinc coating provided the life span required against this hostile environment.

The contractor was able to complete the project in record time thanks to the ease of installation, requiring no concrete or pre-drilled holes.
