Worcestershire farmland to be let on two-year farm business tenancy

A viewing day is being arranged for farmers interested in renting 133.5 acres of arable and grass land on a Worcestershire farm on a two-year farm business tenancy.

Prospective applicants are being invited to view South Hyde Farm, South Hyde Lane, Mathon, Malvern on Tuesday, November 18 between 10am and 2pm by prior appointment with agents Halls.

Tenders must be submitted for the attention of Sarah Hulland, Halls, Gavel House, 137 Franche Road, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, DY11 5AP, by noon on Monday, December 1.

The land, comprising 38.60 acres of arable and 94.99 acres of pasture in temporary and permanent leys, is being let by Halls on behalf of the Lawrence family. Several of the fields have access directly off a road or access tracks.

The predominantly grade three land on the soil classification map has medium to heavy loam soil. The arable land has been in a two year rotation based on winter wheat and oats.

“South Hyde Farm has been farmed to a high standard and provides a prospective tenant a rare opportunity to acquire an area of land in the locality,” said Mrs Hulland, Halls’ senior rural surveyor. “The farm will be let as a whole to one successful applicant on a Farm Business Tenancy on a two year term, commencing from January 1, 2015.”

The farm is currently within the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) and Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) Scheme. Options include mixed stocking, permanent grassland with low inputs, buffer strips and management of archaeological features on grassland.

The tenancy agreement will preclude the use of the land for growing potatoes. As the farm is within a Nitrate Vulnerable Zone, the tenant will be responsible for complying with the regulations.
