World Cup sales boost for Milk Link
Despite England's defeat at the weekend, one business in the region has still been winning as a result of the World Cup, as football fans holding World Cup parties and barbeques have sparked a huge boost in demand for dairy products.
Milk Link, one of the UK's leading integrated dairy businesses, has reported a massive surge in sales of all of its chilled fresh dairy products used in party dips and on prepared salads including soured cream, crème fraiche and fromage frais.
In the week of the Trinidad & Tobago group match, demand for Milk Link's fresh dairy products rose by approximately 50 per cent in comparison to normal production levels. Milk Link's Staplemead Creamery has geared up production to meet the bumper demand.
Shelagh Hancock, Sales Director of Milk Link Ingredient Services, said: "The combination of the World Cup and the recent fantastic weather has created a huge demand for products which incorporate our fresh dairy ingredients. Weekly production has exceeded last Christmas' record levels and our ability to react quickly to this increased demand is testament to both the expertise and commitment of our staff at Staplemead and the investment we have made in our fresh dairy products processing capabilities."
