Pell Plant Hire

Our company Pell Plant Hire Ltd, is a family run business with Steve Pell and his son Simon Pell as the directors. Steve's eldest son Shaun was also a director and helped to build the company up considerably until he sadly passed away in 2006.

Our company was founded in 1973 by Steve Pell at the age of 23. Steve worked with a land drainage company after leaving school, until he decided to set up on his own with one Ford backhoe loader.

In the early years of the company Steve's work consisted of mainly small building footings and dyking for local farmers, which both jobs are still carried out today.

In the late 70's land drainage was a big business due to goverment grants and so dyking became a big business too. So Steve took the opportunity to expand, buying a Priestman and Hymac Excavator.

It was in the early 90's that the company really began to expand, as Steve moved into civil engineering and concrete laying. This was also the time Steve's eldest son Shaun joined the business from leaving school, dedicating all his working life to the business and gaining a good reputation for the company with his excavation skills. The move into civil engineering and concreting proved to be a wise decision, as our company now not only specialises in plant hire but in concreting too. Laying in excess of 10,000 cubic metres per year, mostly with a power float finish.

Poultry unit bases and grain stores are now a big part of our work. We travel all over the country completing these projects.

We now employ a team of 20 staff which consists of pipe layers, ground workers, concrete finishers and CPCS plant operators.

In 2005 we decided to expand our business again and bought a land drainage company from A. Grice & Son. Which we now run with Geoff Grice the prevous owner, who acts as a consultant for the company. The company has been running for over 50 years and has a very high reputation.

We pride ourselves on reputation and many of our customers have been using us for 10 to 20 years. We aim to achieve the highest standard of work that we can at a competitive price. We are always willing to price any job whether big or small and would welcome your call.

In todays market Health and Safety is very important to us. We use cope safety management to provide all safety documentation you may need.
