Gorgie City Farm

Gorgie City Farm is a free-entry community led initiative that aims to educate inner city children and adults about farming and food production. We also aim to promote social inclusion by providing volunteering opportunities for all.

We have been tucked in between a busy railway line and one of Edinburgh’s main arterial roads for over 30 years, Gorgie City Farm is a little piece of the countryside right in the heart of Edinburgh. Gorgie City Farm is run as a working farm, our animals are bred and raised for food production and as the only City Farm in East and Central Scotland we bring the sounds, smells and sights of rural Scotland into the city.

We have a wide range of animals including sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, and cattle. Of course, having so many animals we often celebrate new arrivals (lambs, piglets, calves and cute little chickens) which is always an exciting time for the 160,000 visitors every year. As we are in such a compact area visitors can get up close to the animals and get a valuable understanding of how a real farm works.
