Bloodstock and Performance Horse Management (BSc)

This course specialises in the bloodstock industry comparing science and business practices to those within the sports horse industry. The University has a proven track record for graduate employability, with former students securing high profile positions in the many facets of the racing industry.

This innovative three year course is tailored to those with a keen interest and career aspirations in the thoroughbred and sports horse industries; from training and breeding to racecourse and enterprise management. The course will cover business management aspects of a booming global bloodstock industry, address ethical issues facing racing and furnish graduates with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career within a wide range of racing-related businesses.

You’ll complete a 20-week work placement in the second year of the course, in an equine-related business of your choice giving you the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise. This combination of vocational and academic skills creates highly competent and employable graduates.

This course will offer you the unique experience of visiting racing businesses in Lambourn, Newmarket and Ireland (the latter at an additional cost) giving you an insight into a wide-range of activities that support and develop the European racing industry.
