A two-year sponsorship deal between Strutt & Parker and LEAF Education has been announced to help develop its FaceTime a Farmer initiative.

The project was piloted in 2017 and involves farmers being paired with schools to deliver regular FaceTime/Skype sessions with schoolchildren, to bring about a better understanding of the role that farming and food production play in all our lives.

Adopting such technology is seen as critical as farmers look to the younger generation to ignite passion for agriculture.

Carl Edwards, director of education and public engagement at LEAF, said: “FaceTime a Farmer is an opportunity to utilise something that most of us use on a daily basis to engage a future generation and to bring the world of farming, food and the environment directly in to the classroom.

The sponsorship hopes to ensure that the initiative can amplify its reach significantly across the UK.

James Farrell, head of rural at Strutt & Parker, said the land and property agency is "delighted" to be supporting a project which helps to engage schoolchildren with the farming industry.

Strutt & Parker is part of BNP Paribas Real Estate, one of the BNP Paribas Group's ten UK business divisions. LEAF is an expanding charity that promotes sustainable food and farming.

A core part of LEAF’s work is focused on inspiring and educating future generations about farming, food and the countryside.
