A well-developed fire broke out at a poultry farm in Pembrokeshire, with more than 30 firefighters tackling the blaze.

Firefighters from Mid and West Fire Service were called to Capestone farm, near Haverfordwest, at 3:45pm on Monday (11 December).

More than 30 firefighters have been tackling the blaze at the site in Walwyn's Castle.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, although there have been reports of an explosion at the site.

The poultry farm told the BBC that no animals had been hurt.

A man who was working nearby told WalesOnline: “I saw a massive explosion. I was about half a mile away and I could see it.

“One of the sheds was fully in flames with lots of little explosions going on. It was like they had stored gas in there.”

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said the fire involves chemicals, oil, and acetylene.

Western Telegraph reporter Joanna Sayers said: "It looks like an inferno. It is a big fire in a what looks to be a long shed. If you didn't know it was a fire you would think it was Christmas lights lighting it up."
