Farmer’s made a big impact at the Lord Mayor’s show in London last weekend, showcasing to the British public an upbeat 'Back British Farming' message.

The NFU, the Worshipful Company of Farmers and New Holland used a canvas of a combine harvester and tractor to the streets of London, shouting the message 'We're proud to produce your food'.

Ryan, a sheep farmer from Cornwall, said he was "thrilled" to take part in such a spectacle and help fly the flag for future farmers.

Over 4 million viewers tuned in to the BBC’s live coverage of the 802nd Lord Mayor's Show, and around half a million spectators lined the streets of London.

More than 7,000 people, alongside 70 floats, took part in this year's parade.

The procession was the first public engagement for the new Lord Mayor of the City of London, Charles Bowman.

A hamper showcasing British produce was presented to the Lord Mayor, which included British-made jams and chutneys, and a copy of the Countryside Kitchen cook book.

'Countryside Kitchen: Farm, Food, Fork' includes 77 recipes that use only British seasonal ingredients cultivated by British farmers.

It also highlights the importance of provenance and supporting farming and agriculture in the UK and encourages readers to use seasonal, local ingredients.
