29,000 tonnes of UK wheat bound for Spain

In what has been a very difficult season for exports a 30,000 tonne vessel will be at Immingham docks in Lincolnshire on Monday (3rd April) loading with 29,100 tonnes of locally grown feed wheat.

Mark Ranby, shipping manager for Gleadell Agriculture who is coordinating the wheat, explains that exports have been inconsistent this season due to a tighter supply and demand situation in the UK.

"However Gleadell has been able to secure this tonnage due to the continued support and close working relationships we have with our farmer customers and hauliers. It is without doubt a team effort."

He adds: "We supply our buyers with quality grain and turn it around quickly - we get the ship in and get it loaded as fast as possible, thus ensuring continuity of supply for all concerned. This is the reason our EU customers keep returning to us, no matter how hard the season."

The MV Rodlo will commence loading on Monday and it is Gleadell's intention to complete within 3 ½ days. The grain is destined for Valencia and has been sold to feed compounders in the region.
