Warwickshire police are appealing for information after seven cows were stolen from a farm in the Southam area.

It is thought the livestock rustlers stole the cattle in the last 9 months.

The criminals hit the Southam area in the Stratford-on-Avon district of Wawrickshire. They stole five males and two females, all of which were meat cattle and worth between £6,000 and £7,000 in total.

However, the timescale for the theft is some time between October 2016 to June 2017.

The stolen livestock were all of mixed continental breed and were in possession of yellow identification tags.

PCSO Katrina Campion from the Southam police team said: “Although there is a large timescale, the team would like to ask anyone who may have information regarding this theft to contact our control room via 101.”

Livestock crime

Farmers and rural communities have seen a rise in livestock crime. In particular, sheep rustling has seen a worrying increase.

In May alone, criminals stole more than 30 sheep from a field in the Isle of Skye, Scotland and stole more than 50 sheep in a raid on a north-east farm in Scotland.

And in February, rustlers stole almost 100 sheep worth just under £13,000 in a farm near Falkirk.

Anyone with details on the Warwickshire case can call 101 quoting incident 182 of May 3, 2017, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
