A farm charity has highlighted its financial concerns for the coming winter after criminals raided the farm, damaged property and stole a quad-bike.

Willow Tree Family Farm, a Derbyshire charity which supports children with additional needs, is run by volunteers and is self-funded by public donations.

The quad was purchased with the “little money” raised over the past 12 months to help the farm team operate more effectively.

It supported children with additional needs by aiding their learning on the farm.

The incident happened on Langwith Road, Shirebrook, at around 7pm Saturday 24 November.

Two criminals broke into steel fencing and stole the charity's brand new Palaris Sportman 570 4x4 quad.

The charity is now asking for help to recover the stolen quad-bike and donations to cover the costs of repairing the damage on the farm.

In a statement, the farm said: “This has caused great upset to the team who have worries that the costs to repair will have a devastating effect on the charity over the winter”.

“We hope all our supporters can help with the locating of the stolen quad and help raise the much needed funds to fix the damages and loss.”

The charity has set a £10,000 goal. Donations can be made online.
