A Cumbrian farmer has shared images showing the gory aftermath of his sheep being bitten after a dog attack.

Farmer Jonathan Woodmass, who farms near Gilsland, shared the pictures on Facebook in an attempt to find the dog owner and to warn users the consequences of walking dogs without leads near livestock.

Several sheep were seriously injured and one killed when the dog attacked sometime between 5pm on August 27th and 9am on August 28th.

Jonathan Woodmass said on Facebook: "PLEASE SHARE!! Sometime last night or very early this morning a dog has been in the Holmes field next to the river and worried some sheep.

"I'm more than sure the owner will know that their dog has been up to no good it will have a belly full of wool and raw meat and would will have had blood over its face. I would like anyone with information to get in touch or the owner to come and see me at Howard house Gilsland."

Anyone with any information should email 101@cumbria.police.uk or call 101 quoting incident number 82 of 28th August.
